The aim of the expo was to demonstrate the technologies and approaches that are coming Christchurch’s way. It was a chance for people to witness how new technologies to help create a safer, more connected cities.
I took this opportunity to demonstrate an App I built using Azure cognitive services that would scan a city council document and convert the manually filled form into digital information which could then be archived and searched upon thereby saving the hours spent going to through the forms and entering the data into systems manually. The “CCC Document Scanner” App was available for demo and demonstrated the “Computer Vision API”. The App could:
- Read text from the forms
- Check if the user chose the latest version
- Some basic validations
