To update a multi-user field in SharePoint using the REST API, you’ll need to send a PATCH request to the appropriate endpoint with the updated values. Multi-user fields store user information as an array of user ids.
I initially believed that the array could incorporate claim objects, but I later realized my misconception. However, the process wasn’t overly complex. I successfully managed this by executing an extra REST API call, wherein I utilized the person’s email address to obtain their User ID.
In this illustration, I’ve included two individuals within the array, yet it’s possible to source this array of email addresses from an alternate system.
